After, one might assume, a series of beautiful dates, thousands of Kazakhstanis have chosen beautiful dates to tie the knot, and 26 June 2026 is the first up, with thousands due to make this their most special day, reports Tengri News.
26 06 26 has appealed to almost a thousand couples in Almaty alone, with weddings booked up and toikhana (wedding reception halls) preparing in earnest for the upcoming world-famous Kazakh ceremonies, some venues set to host as many as several hundred guests.
It’s already too late for couples who fancy the above date (as well as each other), as the law in Kazakhstan requires the betrothed to submit their application at least 15 days before the event itself, and although the process is simple enough, for those who like the idea of marrying on a date with repeating numbers, a little advance preparation is advisable.
According to Tengri News, 830 applications have been received in Almaty, 740 in Astana, with a lower amount in the southern city of Shymkent, just 141.
Kazakhstani weddings are considered a special day for everybody who goes, with foreign guests often amazed by the energy and colour of the occasion. The reception can last several hours, and the newlyweds often believe inviting large numbers of people to be part of the magic of their most special day.
Preparations for these occasions can take months, and the evening would typically include different guest performers, singers, dancers, musicians, variety performers, and much much more. There may also be more than one ceremony.
As for the 26 June, many such toi will take place, with possibly the best part of a million people celebrating, all around the country.
