Many Kazakhstanis have made their name domestically, others have become more global brands and household names across the world.
Without making a list, readers will probably be more than familiar with Dimash and Gennady Golovkin, a host of other top achievers nestled behind them.
According to the website Qazinform, another representative of Kazakhstan promises to impress, as a superstar called Sarbaz is set to debut on the world stage in a show in Bologna, Italy, this very week.
Sarbaz is not a singer, nor an actor, but in fact a dog, a Kazakh Tazy; a breed growing in both number and popularity in many countries.
The World Dog Show started on 3 June at the BolognaFiere, with dog lovers from all over the world set to aaah at some beautiful canines, and it is hoped that Sarbaz will steal the show not only for the sake of the proud owners, but also the country, given that this unique breed is one of the symbols of Kazakhstan and its nomadic history.
Domestically, the Tazy is a much-loved animal. It is a sighthound, not dissimilar to the Saluki, but a separate breed nonetheless, one of the oldest anywhere.
Its significance to nomadic peoples cannot be overestimated, as it was said that tribes would trade 47 horses for just one Tazy. They were prized because they could catch and kill wolves, as well as other game, and their importance to life, plus their loyalty, has earned them a special place in the heart of the nation.
Partly because of the beauty and playfulness of this dog, more and more owners are opting to get one, and litters of its pups have risen in number by 400% since the early 2020s.
Sarbaz is appearing in Bologna as we speak, and will fly the flag for Kazakhstani breeders until 7 June, on one of the most important stages in the world.
