The Astana Akimat has issued a resolution establishing bus fares for urban and suburban bus routes.
Fares will now range from 150 to 400 tenge, depending on the route type and payment method, reports saqtimes.kz.
New public bus fares in Astana:
Urban and socially significant routes:
- 150 tenge — cashless payment (transport card, QR code, mobile apps);
- 300 tenge — cash payment.
Express routes:
- 300 tenge — cashless payment;
- 400 tenge — cash payment.
Suburban routes (per kilometre):
- 13 tenge — cashless payment;
- 19 tenge — cash payment.
Concession / preferential passenger categories:
- 0 tenge (upon validation of a designated concession card).
The resolution specifically emphasises that if the electronic ticketing system (validators or digital payment services) is out of order, passengers intending to pay by cashless methods are entitled to ride free of charge.
“In the event of a malfunction in the electronic fare payment system, a passenger paying via an electronic travel card or digital payment services is entitled to free travel,” the resolution states.
Over the past 12 years, public transit fares in the capital have been revised only once, with the current rate standing at 110 tenge.
The decree will come into force ten calendar days after the date of its first official publication.
