ACT Creative Tech Week is currently underway at M. Tynyshpayev ALT University in Almaty with the cooperation of representatives from Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea. The event runs from 23-26 July, 2026.
ACT stands for Academy of Creative Technologies, a body set up to train specialists in various fields including education, AI, and digital technologies. The opening day of the conference welcomed Ha Tae-wook, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Almaty.
Also involved were bodies such as the Dialogue Union of Translators, Almaty Creative, the Almaty Tourism Bureau, international educational and technology companies, as well as experts and project participants.
At the official ceremony, Arslan Seriktegi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ALT University, noted that ACT Creative Tech Week continues the systematic work to develop cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea. He said:
“The Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea have long-standing friendly and mutually beneficial relations. Cooperation between our countries is consistently developing in the areas of economics, science, education, innovation, culture, and high technology. Joint projects contribute to the development of human capital and strengthen humanitarian ties between us.”
The Korean Consul General, Ha Tae-wook, was equally enthusiastic:
“Today, areas such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation of production, creative industries, and digital content are gaining particular importance. These areas have the potential to become a new driver of Korean-Kazakh cooperation and take bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level.”
ACT itself is an international educational platform created in May 2026 and is an integral part of ALT University. Staff quickly set about organising this week’s forum, marking the first practical step in implementing the Memorandum of Understanding signed in Seoul between the Dialogue Translators’ Union, the Academy of Creative Technologies (ACT), and YLAB Academy.
This followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on July 4, 2026, in Seoul, between the Dialogue Translators’ Union, the Academy of Creative Technologies (ACT), and the YLAB Academy.
Cooperation in education, AI, the creative industries, and digital technologies are among the priorities for all parties, who will work together to develop educational programmes, host international events, and exchange skills and knowledge.
ACT is an international educational platform based at ALT University, training specialists in AI, IT, and creative technologies. YLAB Academy is the educational division of YLAB, a global leader in the webtoon and intellectual property (IP) development industry.
This forum is therefore regarded as critically important in progress on all fronts, and its programme reflects this, covering four areas: Visual Storytelling and Webtoons, AI Production in Film, Animation, and Advertising, Smart Factory & Manufacturing DX, and No-Code AI Technologies.
A key outcome of the official ceremony was the signing of three memoranda of cooperation between ALT University and organisations in the Republic of Korea: YLAB Academy, Yumong Co. Ltd, and Smart Maker Platform.
Following the opening ceremony and the signing of the memoranda, the Consul General of the Republic of Korea Ha Tae-wook and guests were given a campus tour of ALT University, where they were able to see some of the state-of-the-art technology that has been introduced in recent years.
