Kazakhstan Adopts New Constitution: 1 July 2026

July 1, 2026, marks the adoption of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Following a referendum held on 15 March 2026, the Constitution was passed after 87.15% of those Kazakhstani citizens going to the polls voted in favour.

A translation into English of the question on which over 73% of those eligible cast their votes is as follows:

“Do you accept the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the draft of which was published in the mass media on February 12, 2026?” 

The overwhelming majority voting yes means that the country, as of July 1, 2026, is now underpinned by the laws and values in the new Constitution, its contents available on the official website of the President of Kazakhstan, here.
